This beautiful little incense censer is handmade by star child at their studio in Glastonbury, England. Used for resin and leaf incense offerings or as a tealight holder, this is ideal for including in rituals. With the bowl lifted off the ground by its hand-sculpted stem, it has the shape of a chalice. It comes part glazed, with the inside of the bowl finished in glorious red color. Made using stoneware craft clay, the remainder of the censer is natural and rustic with a tactile finish. Furthermore, due to their handmade nature, each bowl will have unique markings and colorings.
Using sand with your censer
When using this censer, it is recommended that you fill a third of the bowl with sand. By doing this, you will help retain the heat, allowing the charcoal to burn more evenly and longer. When you purchase your censer, it will arrive with a small bag of sand for this purpose.
Instructions for lighting resin
In general, the best way to burn resin is with the use of a charcoal disk. To begin:
- Light the charcoal round in your censer.
- Wait until it begins to turn white.
- Then, carefully drop a few pieces of resin onto the charcoal.
You will find that both the charcoal and resin should continue to burn. While burning, the resin will emit a beautiful scent. For a more detailed explanation of how to light the charcoal disk please click here.
- Never leave burning resin or charcoal unattended.
- Only place in a heatproof container.
- Do not place the container on a flammable surface.
- Keep away from children and pets and do not ingest.
- Dispose of safely.
